Driving license requirements
The customer must present a valid driving license issued and held for at least one (1) year. The driving license must be accepted by the nation where the vehicle will be delivered. A national driving license is required for European Union (E.U.) citizens. Customers visiting from outside of the European Union must present, upon arrival, a valid International Driving Permit (IDP) accompanied by the National Driving License of their respective nation.
Driver’s age
The renter of the vehicle must be at least Eighteen (18) years old and up to NinetyNine (99) years old to take delivery of the vehicle. For renters, aging between 18 and 24 years old, a Young Driver fee is to be applied, at the rate of 7€ (V.A.T. INCL) per day <Maximum Charge of 10days>. For Renters up to 65years old, a Senior Driver Fee is to be applied, at the rate of 7€ (V.A.T. INCL) per day <Maximum Charge of 10days>.
Driver’s License
The driving license of the renter must be issued at least twelve (12) months prior to the rental. In case the renter owned Driving license with less than 1 year driving license experience Young Driver Charge must be applied.
Security deposit
The renter must present a valid credit at pick-up, issued at the name of the titleholder of the rental agreement (the main driver). (Please note that cards without the driver's name on will not be accepted). The security deposit varies according to the category of vehicle rented. Sterling Rentals will not accept prepaid, recharge or virtual credit cards.
Debit cards, Amex and Maestro Cards are not accepted.
Returns of the security deposit may take up to 30 days to be processed. The duration of the procedure is subject to the renter’s bank of choice.
Grace period due to flight delays
If your flight is delayed, and you have provided the correct arrival flight number on booking, or you have notified us at least 3 hours before the pick-up time, we will hold your vehicle until your flight arrives at no extra charge.
If your flight is delayed, and you have not provided the correct arrival flight number on booking, or you haven’t notified 3 hours before the the pick up time we will not hold your vehicle for more than 90 minutes after the time you have choose on your booking form.
However, if the new arrival time is outside the station's operating hours, an additional charge of € 25,00 (OOH) (V.A.T. INCL) will apply.
Documents required upon arrival
To pick-up your vehicle, you will need the following:
- Your Car Rental Voucher (printed or in the form of an e-Voucher),
- Your Passport or photo Identity Card,
- Your Driving License,
- Your valid Credit card.
Booked vehicle
Your reservation does not have a specific vehicle (make, model, color, accessories, etc.) connected to it, but rather a group of vehicles with similar technical and design characteristics.
Fuel policy
Sterling Rentals provides Fair Fuel Policy same to same. The renter should return the vehicle with the same amount of fuel to avoid a local refueling charge. If returned with more fuel than the starting amount, no refund applies.
Taking the car abroad.
Sterling Rentals is not allowed to drive the vehicle abroad or to other Greek Islands.
Vehicle Condition
Vehicle must be returned in the same condition (normal wear and tear excepted) as when rented. It is the responsibility of the customer to ensure that the vehicle is thoroughly checked prior to taking custody of the vehicle. In case that the renter is not satisfied with the car, he must inform immediately the station to arrange to change it.
Loss or damage to the interior of the vehicle and damages by weather conditions due to customer’s negligence are not covered by the insurance. The renter becomes liable for all costs incurred.
Penalty for Smoking or Extra Cleaning
Smoking is strictly prohibited inside the vehicle. In case of smoking in the vehicle or in case the vehicle requires excessive cleaning either because of dirt or animal hairs, the Renter will be changed a full cleaning of the car at minimum 150.00 EUR.
Cancellation Policy
Our cancellation policies vary, depending on the type of reservation you've made:
Reservations with partial prepayment:
Cancel more than 48 hours prior to pick up time
If you choose to cancel a partially prepaid reservation 48 hours prior to the rental pick up time, we will refund the deposit paid for the booking amount. Once cancelled, we will credit you within approximately 5 business days. Credits will be applied to the same card with which you prepaid.
Cancel within 48 hours prior to pick up time
If you cancel less than 48 hours before your pick-up time the deposit will not be refunded.
No show
If you do not cancel the reservation prior to the time of pick-up and the rental vehicle is not picked up on the rental date, the deposit will not be refunded.
Reservations with Pay on Arrival
You can cancel anytime you want without charges. Please inform 48 hours prior to the rental pick up time.
In case you have complete the rental form and you have received the confirmation email and you will not be able to pick up the car for any reason our company can take legal action and claim the entire rental amount.
KEY LOSS
In case of loss or damage of the keys, you will have to pay 100€- 200€ for their replacement, depending on their type.
Car Replacement
In case of the unfortunate event of an accident/breakdown resulting in the immobilisation of the vehicle, your car will be replaced with another one within 36 hours from the time the accident/breakdown has been reported. Our company has the right to investigate the causes of the accident/breakdown and deny the replacement of the car if the use of the car was against terms & conditions.
